By the harbour, the remains of a magnificent Roman villa of the II century AD were found.
It belonged to the noble Roman family of Nonii-Arii, from which came the Saints Faustino and Giovita, patron saints of Brescia. From this villa, which has beautiful mosaic floors, perhaps come the two columns of red marble that are now attached to the door of the parish. Following the destruction made by time or by men, part of the villa fall into the lake and gave rise to the legend of Benaco, rich town flooded by water.
