The Vittoriale degli Italiani makes of Gardone Riviera one of the capitals of culture on Lake Garda: this villa-museum – possibly the most eccentric in the whole Italian peninsula – is visited every year by thousands of enthusiasts from all around the world. Conceived and commissioned by the great poet Gabriele D’Annunzio, the Vittoriale is an authentic jewel of architecture and interior design; so much, as a matter of fact, that nearly all the tourists on Garda come here and visit it – not only those staying in Gardone or at the Grand Hotel. It is, however, within walking distance.
Many other peculiarities make Gardone unique, such as the André Heller Botanic Garden, the Museo del Divino Infante (“Divine Infant Museum”), the San Marco Tower and St Nicholas’ Church.
